Choosing a Monument

Choosing the perfect monument for you or your loved one is an important decision. It is a special, long lasting tribute to your loved one’s life and provides a place for future generations to visit, to remember and to reflect. There are many decisions in choosing the perfect memorial that represents your loved one. Keep in mind that some cemeteries have specific rules regarding headstones. It is often helpful to visit a cemetery to get an idea of what type of monument you want. Take photos or draw a rough sketch of what appeals to you.

  • Flat Headstones – are set flat or flush with the ground
  • Bevel Headstones –are slightly raised on back edge and cut at an angle
  • Slant Headstones – are upright and the face is slanted.
  • Upright Headstones – is a tablet style headstone that sits on a base
  • Custom Shaped Headstones – are personalized and range in size & shape

Consider what type of information you want to have displayed on the monument to represent and honor your loved one’s life such as:

  • The deceased’s name, date of birth & date of death
  • Special Artwork
  • Porcelain Photo
  • Laser Etching
  • The deceased’s hobbies or interests
  • The deceased’s wedding date
  • The deceased’s children’s names
  • An epitaph – a short message, verse, or saying

**Another option to consider is if you would like vases to be added**
